Contract Signing with Strike Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) as Noah's Ark Beneficiary

Keep the people of Bacoor safe from stray animals with rabies, and provide protection for maltreated animals.

These are the goals of non-government and non-profit organization Strike Animal Welfare Society or SAWS.  Named after Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla for his dedication to implement the animal welfare act, SAWS was established in September 2009. The group built a pound-cum-animal shelter that helps incarcerate animals that may carry deadly rabies. It also serves as a temporary shelter for dogs, cats and other animals rescued from cruelty, abandonment or neglect.

Foods that are good to Humans but not to our Dogs

We consider our dogs as our best friend, but that doesn't make them human. Many of us dog owners make the mistake of thinking that a healthy diet for us is also a healthy diet for our pet. Although a few table scraps every once in a while won't hurt, there are a few things that should be treated with caution.

Why Dog Vomit, its Causes and Solutions

Anyone who has had a dog has heard that dreaded noise – the sound of a vomiting dog. Due to my dog's vomiting two days ago, I researched for its reason and some solutions.  And here's what I found.

Vomiting in dog is normal and generally is nature's way of ridding the body of an unwanted food or foreign objects the dog may have ingested.  Dogs can vomit yellow bile, food, clear and/or foamy liquid, blood and grass or a combination of the above. Periodic vomiting is not a reason for concern as long as the dog has a healthy appetite, maintaining an ideal weight and their energy levels are normal.  While vomiting occasionally may not be an indication of a serious illness, any occurrence of repeated vomiting, especially if accompanied by lethargy, diarrhea or other behavioral changes, should receive prompt medical attention.

There are three stages in the vomiting process: nausea, retching and the final vomiting. The main concern for the health of a vomiting dog are dehydration causing an imbalance in electrolyte levels, a disparity in the balance of acid to base levels in the body and aspirated pneumonia.

My Dog Vomits, is he sick?

When we got home last night, I saw my dog's vomit on the floor, it is foamy white in color.  I panicked, though that was not the first time my dog vomits but because I noticed him really unwell.  Unlike his previous vomits, he's still playful and alert.  But last night, his ears dropped and according to his nanny (naks) he did not eat his dinner.  One more thing that is strange to him, he did not welcome us home :(

Noah’s Ark Pet Columbaria: A Patch of Pet Heaven

Pinoys are natural pet lovers. To date, the Philippines is one of the top 5 countries in the world with the most number of household pets. But gone were the days when pets are merely trusty watchdogs at home. Many owners have come to treat their pets as companions, friends and even as kids of their own.

What used to be just veterinary clinics to give medical attention to our pets, now services are being offered for all sorts of our pet needs. From pet dental clinics, to grooming salons, obedience class for pets and even pet hotels. All are aimed to provide the best care for our beloved animal friends.  But one important need for our pet is often overlooked- the need for a decent resting place when they pass on.
